Here are some of the informational and educational articles that caught my attention this week. These articles discuss the need for better nutrition in school our children as well as expanding roles for Teach for America participants in public schools. One article even discusses some details of the most expensive public school that is opening next month. The articles highlight some of the changes and advances of many schools around the country.

School nutrition: Healthier ingredients, more education for 2010-11 - In the upcoming school year, many schools are making healthier options and changes to their menus. New ingredients are being added to lunch items. Some schools are incorporating them into science and health lessons all in efforts to offer healthier choices to students.

With limited training, Teach for America recruits play expanding role in schools - Teach for America, which matches new teachers with deserving schools, has just won a $50 million federal grant that will help the program nearly double in the next four years.

Most expensive public school complex opens next month - Los Angeles is going to soon be home to the most expensive public school. The 24-acre campus will have cost about $578 million, by far the most expensive public school ever built. There will be state-of-the-art classrooms and facilities.
